Dear All,

I am into the project wherein a fixed roof tank is being replaced by a external floating roof tank. Need to size the auto bleeder vent as per API 2000. HSD tank, 7500 m3.

I have done with the venting rates. Pumping out is the governing case.

Now to calculate the size of the vent below is the formula as per API 2000.

A=Q / (12503*Pin * ( (1/(M*T*Z)*(k/(k-1))) * ( (Pout/Pin )^(2/k) - (Pout/Pin )^((k+1)/k) )  )^0.5 )

Now, when i am calculating for breathing in I believe Pout will be atmospheric pressure and had a query on Pin. Kindly provide some guideline on the pressure consideration to be taken for the calculation.

Best Regards,

Kartikeya

Hi,

Pout is outlet pressure of the valve. As you said it could be atmospheric pressure but please take note you should use the absolute pressure in the formula and it depends on the height of the location from the sea level.

Kartikeya,

Don't try to size bleeder vent; just prepare a comprehensive data sheet and leave the sizing to reputable vendor(s)...

@Naser Sir,

First of all thanks for the reply.

I agree that let leave sizing portion to the vendor, however, we need to validate the sizing provided by the vendor.

Regards

Kartikeya

@Mahdisir,

Yes, I agree, we need to consider height. Noted.

Thanks,

Kartikeya
