Hi all,

I have read somewhere that the temperature at the top of a distillation column should be slightly higher than the boiling point of the light key component, and that the temperature at the bottom of the column should be slightly lower than the boiling point of the heavy key component. Is there any truth in this?

Kind Regards,

So what? The temperature is a function of pressure and composition. So your question is not really relevant to distillation. What makes you ask?

The distillation column I have designed has a temperature at the top below the boiling point of my light key component. I had a bit of a panic and thought my whole design was incorrect.
