Dear all,

I was wondering someone could advise on this. We have an oil field processing facility that we need to commission. However, there are issues that we are facing such as the lack of enough fluid to process by the separators. see the following:

Separators, V-2303A/B/C/D

Capacity: 204,650 BFPD
Incoming wc%v: 75.5
Outgoing wc%v: 70
Retention time: 5
Operating Conditions:

1. temperature: 70-75 deg. Celsius
2. Pressure: 750-900 kPag

Now, we have only about 115,500 BFPD to process by one separator and we are wondering how this separator will respond assuming the same wc%v 75.5. We do not have aspen hysys to try and evaluate how this separator will respond.

Note:The contractor that did the simulation did not advise on the possible minimum process/liquid storage volume that is required for equilibrium to be reached for gas-liquid separation.

Your separator will have better performance because of lower gas velocity and longer liquid resident time due of less process inlet flow.

I don't understand your unit "wc%v".  Water Content % Volume?  75.5% Volume Water Content Inlet to 70% Volume Water Content Outlet?  Just knock out 5.5% Volume Water Content through the separator?

You should not expect any help since your information is very limited.

In this forum you can find advice if you searched "Separator sizing in Hysys". Take into account the recommendations of senior members about not relying in Hysys for sizing and prediction of carryover. It is better to know what you are doing and assuming.

There are many more if you search "separator" on this forum.
