Hi there!

 

I'm a chemical engineering student and I'm required to design of 1 heat exchanger and 1 absorber from any industry's PFD involving hydrochloric acid in the absorber. They don't have to be connected to each other for as long as they exist within the PFD (e.g. the heat exchanger supplies a heating/cooling fluid elsewhere).

 

I've been looking all over the internet and some references, but I cannot find any industrial data on a PFD having both equipment TOGETHER except the attached picture. But, still no data on flow rates, temperatures, pressures, etc. I need any data on this as my presentation is nearing, and I still have no data to work with.

 

Any help would be very much appreciated! Thank you very very much!

On the heat exchanger design, I suggest using 3/4 inch and 20 ft. long tubes in a NEN type  exchanger

Hi there! Is the NEN type exchanger chosen because it's cost effective?

It is a cost effective type. Whether it is a NEN or BEM type depends on the quality of the cooling water. The BEM type is cheaper but it has the problem of having to disconnect the water piping at every cleaning
