We are currently experiencing a high pressure drop (approximately 110 psi vs typical 15 psi) on the last reactor in our semi regenerative Reformer (3 reactors in series). The other two reactors are showing normal pressure drop. Reformer Reactor design is down flow type with catalyst bed being supported by balls/inert, and an elephant stool at reactor exit
For the reactor D9, I have concerns regarding the integrity of the outlet collector (elephant stool) and the maximum pressure drop it was designed for. As such I am seeking information on assessing the stool design and maximum pressure drop tolerable.
In addition I am seeking reference for any company that would be able to perform an Xray or any other scan on the reactor to show visually what is happening in same: identifying the source/reason for the restriction/high pressure drop.
See reactor loading diagram attached.
