Good morning.

I´m trying to calculate a deareator for a 400 boilers hp(Cleaver Brooks)

The evaporation of boiler at 100% full load is 13800 lb/hr(pounds/hr)

Using this web page:

https://www4.eere.en.../equipDeaerator

I obtained the calculations that show in the pdf attached.

I  follow the calculation details and with the help of a saturated steam properties table I obtained similar figures.

Can you please tell me if the result are correct?

Thanks

Manuel

Manuel,

are you trying to calculate how much steam you require for deaeration?

It can roughly be back-calculated from the enthalpy difference of the incoming BFW feed and the conditions inside the deaerator. A few iterations can give a satisfactory result.

Once you have your result, you can do an overall energy  balance (enthalpy in - enthalpy out) and see if that is near 0. That should prove that your numbers are right.

Manuel,

That is what I mentioned in post 3. All you need is a material balance and an energy balance.

Define all the inlet and outlet streams from your deaerator (DM Water in, BFW out, vent out, LP Steam in, Condensate in etc.). Enthalpies of all the streams are known or can be defined. Only 2 flow rate are unknown: LP Steam in and BFW out, as the other outlet stream (vent) can be assumed to be fixed.

At this point you just need to find out the steam flow rate so that the total enthalpy balance is conserved. The excel solver can be easily used to iterate and get to a solution.

I hope that clears it.

Hi Manuel

Try the SpiraxSarco site.The link:

http://www.spiraxsar...deaerators.aspx

Calculations about the Deareator with examples of aplications.

I think that will be useful

Good luck

Manuel,

Refer the link below for enthalpy and mass balance calculations. Apply the same for your deaerator.

Engineers are notoriously bad spellers. And don't seem to care.

Good morning Bobby if you are refering me:

You can see English isn´t my mother language.

I always try to write the language correctly and in every post in which a person answers me I always appreciate time and effort to give a answer without expecting anything return and say thank you for the help.

No, I didn't intend to pick on you. As you can see, only Pavanayi and Ankur got the spelling right. But they were probably schooled in the Queen's English. To be really successful, we must pay attention to such detail. But maybe all this is disappearing with all the shortcuts used for texting with tiny devices. Your language of origin probably does a better job of discouraging shortcuts than the English language. And, today children in school don't learn cursive writing. I'm not sure what the children learn, but they seem to get a good education. You should be proud that you communicate in more than one language. I can't do that; just a little Spanish, enough to get by.

My apologies. The tongue  is faster than the brain and yesterday not good day(not excuse)

I consider that today  education is badly focused but these forums and helping future generations is the task of the people who passed a stricter education, although I also already in my university time I was in that situation and day of Today much of what little is thanks to forums, books and desires to know.

Again I feel sorry with my comment.

Manuel
