Can anyone tell me what is the reason for the different stack size ranges in different types of fuel cells. For example why a PEM fuel cell cannot have a stack size higher than 100 kW?

Type                                    Stack size

PEM                                     < 1 - 100 kW

AFC (Alkaline)                     1 - 100 kW

PAFC (Phosphoric acid)      5 - 400 kW

MCFC (Molten Carbonate)   300 kW

SOFC (Solid Oxide)             1 kW - 2 MW
