Dear All,
Thank you very much.
pavanayi, actually I am looking for the background equations, specific references used by the aspen for their cost estimation. The 'Economics' ribbon is showing the amount of the capital cost and the utility cost. Then Aspen Process Economic Analyzer (APEA) showing the costs in bit details. I wanted to know how they are generating these data. In the 'Process Utility Manager', I was looking for the references for the 'cost index' of the individual utility, though the utility price can be changed / created there.
Chinmoy, Aspen Icarus seems a databook used for their cost estimation. They have put the system costs (wage rates, engineering expenses etc), code account etc. I am trying to make cost library in Aspen Capital Cost Estimator. I think one of my purposes can be served by doing this. Your comments in costing comparison are appreciated.
In the 'Plant Design and Economics' book by Peters, there are the equations/ formula for the cost index, cost estimation, depreciation determination methods, some other costing factors, capital cost etc. Can I get these kind of relationships in case of Aspen? If I change the plant location to a place which isn't mentioned in the aspen library for costing, then how the costing can be calculated. How is the cost index for their individual costing? These things I need to clarify. I am still looking for them.

In one of their webinar they discussed that their code calculate the cost according to some Rigorous algorithm.
Rigorous meaning ( they said)
Like for one equipment after sizing they will calculate the thickness of each component then:::: from weight the material cost::: then from welding cost (According to labor cost in the region(please see below)) ::: then painting;; other auxiliary component of the equipment cost is added.
They are not going to share those code because they are propitiatory.

In my Advanced Process Design Course i built excel according to those literature and compared with two aspentech procedure.

In aspen capital cost estimator they calculate the cost according to specified location. I have added the screenshot about how to specify and example how they calculate
Best Regards
