Dear Sir,

 

For one of our AES type heat exchanger, we noticed leakage in the tubes so please advise me which material is suitable for highly corrosive services. And also scale deposit is observed in the shell side. I believe we can go ahead with new tube bundle 304L material so please advise me the material selection cost wise.

 

 

Service: spent caustic

tube material now: SA 179

Tube sheet material : SA 266-4

Shell : SA 516 Gr.70

There is a metallurgy chart for caustic solutions based on caustic solution concentration ad temperature. Same is attached. Also refer the following link for S&T exchanger costing:

 I believe that SS 304 is not suitable for your application ,
