Dear Group Members,

At RO plant what should be allowable range of pressure difference in multimedia filter??

We have old MS pipe line for raw water because of which during operation, pressure difference approaches to 0.8 Bar, after back wash it comes to 0.3-0.4 Bar. We are installing a new pipe line for raw water which will take some time, should we carry on with this much pressure difference or should stop the plant to avoid any damage to membrane's life.

Looking for your positive response.

Regards,

The parameter for RO operation you should look at is SDI (silt density index).

Delta P in multimedia filter is not a parameter to follow to determine if water is good for an RO.

Before the RO you should also have a 1 to 5 micron filter. Is this filter getting plugged also?

On the other hand, there is no mention on the quality of the raw water. It is not the same when you take a mountain river that comes from snow thaw, from an aquifer with only salts and sand (and little organic matter) or a lake with seasonal algae blooms.
