we are using a new fire and gas detection system in gas process plant

the plant required 3 receprocating compressor to pressure the gas

when compressor stop nromaly or emergancy, the ompressor blowdown vavle open to vent the trapped gas to the flair, so the flair flame is raised then fire ESD detector activate ESD fire alarm.

many trial to relocate detectors without success and the distance between detectors and flare is about 700 meter so is there any way to reduce the flare hight in case of compressor blowdown valve opened.

why not work on a suitable fire detector instead ... or install a shield so detector doenot read the flare ... or consider changing beam type fier detector to heat type detection
