Sakthi Vel,

SRfish brings out an important point before going any further.

Unfortunately the term “spiral” is used frequently to mean various forms of pipe or tubing coils.  Sometimes what is meant is the term “helix”.  Is that your case?  You have to be SPECIFIC in describing what you mean or have.  Otherwise, we waste a lot of valuable time and effort on the part if our members.  Please refer to the attached documents to see the difference between two types of heat exchanger tubing configurations.

I have designed and built both the helix and spiral type of heat exchanger in the field, using them in relatively small size applications (<50 ft2).  I’ve used them as preheaters, gas-to-gas exchangers, compressor intercoolers, and sample coolers.  I have uploaded a lot of material and literature in our Forums through the years and you can find it using our SEARCH engine.  I can upload information in this thread, but you must be specific about your application.  For example, answer SRfish’s question regarding whether the coil is in a tub or vat and is agitated.  These details all make a big difference in how your query is answered.

Await your input and response.
