Hi,
Any one has former experience to advice;
Which will be more economic, converting H2S to elemental sulfur or to Sulfuric acid?
Thanks,,

essentially, it depends by:

- the quantities you produce

- the quantities you can sell

as a consequence of the above, more than 95% of H2S generated by oil & gas processing is transformed to S.

moreover, the risks relevant to H2SO4 handling are higehr compared to S

Ashita,

I had to perform an evaluation of this kind two times: 15 and 7 years ago.

In both cases for refineries.

The economics were in favour of the H2SO4 generation, but the owners decided to go for the Claus solutions, mainly because of the operating risks associated to H2SO4 handling.

In both cases the techno-economic data for the H2SO4 plants were provided by Haldor Topsoe, which is Licensor of the WSA process.

During the projects, I had the opportunity of visiting one of this plants, running in a petrochemical complex in the south of Italy. The produced H2SO4 were distributed to various petrochemical complexes of the same owner.

I hope the above is of help for you.

Good luck!
