What is the difference between cut point and end point. what is the effect of steam rate and other parameters like pressure on end point?

Hassamullah,

You can review the ASTM D-86 standard.

Initial Boiling Point (IBP), in D86 distillation, the corrected temperature reading at the instant the first drop of condensate falls from the lower end of the condenser tube.

End Point (EP) or final boiling point (FBP), the maximum corrected thermomether reading obtainend during the test.

Cut points, is the evaporated point to 5%, 10%, 20%, 30-70%, 80% 90% 95%.

More pressure, more high EP (heavy)

More steam, more high EP (heavy).

For a TBP, EP and cut point are the same. ASTM has tails, and EP does not equal cut point. Stripping steam reduces the tails of the ASTMs of the two streams.
