Can anyone tell me how types of valves in FEED stage are selected, which criteria or rules are used.

Brief response; right valve selection in FEED stage would be done based on following criteria:

 

* Process Parameter; e.g.:

   Flow

  Temperature

   Pressure

 

*Chemical Compatibility; e.g.:

   Media

   Percent of solid content

 

*Process requirements; e.g.:

   On/Off vs. Control Service

   Allowable leakage rate

Thank you Mr. Fallah for your reply 

I read in some documentation that Gate , Plug and ball valves are suitable for On/Off service while Globe and Diaphragm valve are suitable for control service, 

my concern is on which basis, we can favored the use of Gate valve on Plug or ball valve, and  same for control service ( Globe or Diaphragm valve)

If you can cite some links or books in this purpose i'll be very thankful.
