Hello Everyone,

Good day.

I'll be needing your help with regards to dosing rate calculation of coagulant and flocculant from jar test result. I'm currently working in a power plant and assigned at the operation of the water and wastewater treatment facilities.

We were not taught for the calculation of the dosing rates of coagulant and flocculant for the wastewater treatment facility. Any idea on how to calculate?

I did some research but would appreciate if I get more concise information from the experts. If possible I also need to learn the most detailed procedure of JAR TEST before I calculate the dosing rates of coagulant and flocculant.

I purpose of having an accurate calculation of the dosing rates from jar test result is to optimize the use of coagulant and flocculant. Not just simply wasting chemicals but also to monitor consumption and able to establish trend out from lab result data and actual conversion to dosing rates.

Hoping for a positive response to those who will be able to read this.

I do need help from all of you.

Thanks in advance.

Hi ,

If I was in your shoes I would contact the vendor of chemicals and request a study to evaluate the chemicals .

Anyway Jar tests are performed to select the most efficient chemical and get the right concentration to separate the phases . You count with a stop watch the time required to get the sedimentation targeted ( level in the jar). These tests should be performed based on chemical and concentration .

After completion of the study you should be able to add chemical as per your test .  Be aware that the design of your industrial equipment could affect the performance of the treatment .

If you use any search engine , google and others and Key Jar test you will find a bunch of information.

Hope this helps

Breizh
