We will have material flowing into a separator. The pressure in the piping will roughly be 60 psi. The separator is not vented to atmosphere. Once it gets into the separator, the valve beneath it will not open until a level switch is met. The biodiesel will float to the top and be pushed into the next part of the process. That being said, I'm trying to find what kind pressure we'll be seeing in the pipes that contain biodiesel in order to properly size an orifice plate. How would you find that pressure? It wouldn't simply be 60 psi would it?

Attached is a sketch. I am only interested in the pressure of what is going through the top. The tank is 7200 gallons and flow rate can be assumed to be 80 gpm if necessary.

The drain valve will probably open if the interface level (not the level) reach to a pre specified value, if so the overhead line will release the biodiesel at the conditions in which the vessel is full of liquid. If so, then the pressure at overhead line will be a little bit lower than 60 psig...
