For fixed speed compressors, plotting (Pressure ratio/Polytropic Head) v/s (flow) gives us the surge line, based on the safety margin we further draw the control line.

For VSD compressors, how to plot surge line as we have 3 variables now: Speed, Pressure ratio & flow.

Take a look at the article "Invariant Coordinate Systems for Compressor Control" by BW Watson.

If you plan to read it, reserve a couple of hours, it is a dense article, but well explained.

The key issue is to develop an invariant coordinate system and plot the surge line in that coordinate system.
