Dear all,

I have following querry about aMDEA stripper pressure:
We are using aMDEA BASF system for CO2 removal in ammonia plant using Udhe techonlogy.

Sir I saw in post about stripper pressure should be low as possible, kindly clear me what are benifits for lowering pressure, as if we increase pressure we have following benifits:
1. High pressure stripping reduces energy consumption by reducing compression work.
2. And it increase selectivity for CO2 over water in the vapor as CO2 vapour increase quickly as compared to steam vapor, leading more CO2 Stripping.
3. Reduces Heat duty of reboiler
4. High suction head for Lean pumps

kindly clear my concept about process
Thanks in advance

Riaz:

There are amines and then there are other amines.  If you are employing the BASF aMDEA process for acid gas removal, then you should follow the recommendations given by the licensor for the best operating pressures in your reboiler and stripper.

For the basic amines - such as MEA and DEA - it is always more economical and process efficient to operate the stripper at as low a pressure as you possible can.  How low you can go depends on what is downstream of your acid gas cooler-condenser.  Where did you obtain your information that you are reciting for the amines?  Please explain your claim.

Dear Sir,

I am studying BSAF aMDEA for CO2 removal in ammonia synthesis plant, and I have attached PDFs also. I want to how low pressure is economical explain in detail. as i have already explain benifits of high pressure in Stripper.
