I wanna ask how to do an energy balance in a spray dryer. I have found one source (McCabe). However, it was for drying solids. I will be drying a solution of calcium chloride. Can I use the formula or is there an entirely different one that I should use?

Hi Je-ahn,
I once worked with spray dryer vendor machine. I think the trickiest part of this energy balance is getting the outlet air temperature.
The simplest way is to use graph of vendor (its all over the internet). The graph will show you that you need this much of energy using this angle, nozzle diameter and many factors.
Regards,
Christopher
