Hi all;

How can i rate a control valve for a new service? is it sufficient if i use HYSYS  V8.6 to simulate the valve in the new service by using the CV of the old service? How can i decide if the valve is suitable for the new service from the simulation result?.

Thank you all

Hi Sargon

How different between current service and new service? Corrosive, phase change (flashing) and also design condition of the vavle should be reviewed.

If the fluid charateristic is not much different, you can do valve verification by determining the new required CV and then check % opening with valve curve of that valve model. You can also use the manufacture sizing program to determine % opening of the valve too. To say the valve is suitable, the % opening of the valve should be in the range of 20-80%; however, for some specification and valve charateristic may allow to 90%.
