Hello everyone,
Can anyone guide me to good correlation to estimate entrained liquid on vapore in horizantal pipe with flow Pattern
I need that to calculate the carryover of vapor-liquid vessel separation

Maybe you can provide a sketch. And what you are using for your separator calculation. Your request is unusual.

Bobby,
The inlet separator pipe has an effect on separation performance, the amount of the entrained liquid into vapor, droplet size distribution, droplet efficiency. all these parameter must be determined to calculate the carry-over.
now I am stuck on how to calculate the amount of entrained liquid, as it has relation with the flow pattern on feed separator pipe.
Thanks

I never needed such information in 50 years of design. Again, what method are you using for the separator calculation? And I never had need to calculate carry-over.

Hi
I am developing excel spreadsheet for separator rating and design using VBA.
I saw many spreadsheet that estimate residence time and droplet diameter as criteria for separator design. and ignored the effect of many parameter such us feed pipe flow pattern, inlet nozzle device, and droplet distribution...ect
the new approach of separator design is the is the fix separation performance specification, such as ( Amount of water in the separated oil-amount of oil in the separated water-Amount of liquid in the separated gas) and verify other constraint ( min length , resident time ...ect)
I know this new approach need more calculation and more work , but it has considerable effect on the vessel weight, and better quantification of the separation performance.

If you visit my website and register, there are libraries that you can use in your effort. Just search my full name, or enter it without spaces. And, you can visit this page to get recent articles that should have what you are looking for. https://spe.org/en/o...etail/?tag=2199. There is a spreadsheet somewhere that has already done what you are doing. It may not be understandable; it probably uses cell formulas. But the articles should give you all that you need. Along with a link to the spreadsheet. Good luck.
And, can you share your reason for developing the spreadsheet? There seem to be some good commercial applications available. Even at least one is integrated into the major process simulators. For all the effort required, you might consider using VB.NET or C# and produce a compiled application. If you don't yet use these languages, this will be a good opportunity to learn. Spreadsheets are dangerous when distributed. They are really only for personal use.

Hey Boby,
Thanks for your inputs, I already developed an automated Spreadsheet for vessel Calculation ( sizing and rating ) you can check it on the following website:
please let me your feed back
