Hello,

I would like a help a project of retrofitting a column used as a stripping tower to a ammonia vapor absorber (for the production of aqua ammonia solution).

Although I have in mind that there are alternative designs possible, I focus on a two-bed packed tower design.

Based on my rating calculations the column diameter is 4-5 larger than that required for the gas capacity (approx. 20-30% of Maximum Operating Capacity). Moreover at the top of the bed the gas velocity will be very low.

My questions are:

What will be the effect on process efficiency?

What should be done to have a stable and efficient operation of the column (e.g. Suitable Packing)

Thanks

If it is pure ammonia, you only need a heat exchanger.
