Dear all

As per API 560, the temperature of heater outside casing at the convection and radiation sections and hot duct shall not exceed 82oC.

However, in our CDU heater the temperature is recorded up to 175oC at the expansion area between convection and radiation. This GAP is about 20 mm and already inserted ceramic fiber. The cause  may be due to the metal plate supporting the refractory above, it locates at GAP and may exposes to the hot flue gas.

By this design, we can not avoid the high temperature of outside casing at this area and violate the API standard.

So my question is: There is any specific requirement for the max temperature at the location as I concerned and other locations such as tube support (directly exposes to the flue gas) and  any method to reduce this temperature?

Thanks and best regards.
