Dear Engineers,

I am doing the simulation for the pressure losses across the piping. I am using HYSYS to calculate the pressure drop. I am a bit confused with the specification to be input into the piping segment in HYSYS rating model.

As an example, if I have a pipe with the configuration going up (vertical pipe and horizontal pipe) and with a ball valve and an elbow. With this configuration how can I specified the pipe segment (consider the elevation changed).

Why do sometimes I got error message "Elevation Exceed Length"? How can I work out this error?

I have attached a sketch of the piping configuration.

I hope someone can help me with this question.

Thank you.

I think process simulators are more suitable for pipelines,

for local networks you can adopt simplified models (accepting some limits)

or switch to specific software...
