Hello,

I am given a task and having problem that how should i approach it.

I am supposed to design an fixed bed adsorption column  for air drying using silica gel.I am supposed to report my mentor with following details: Break through curve, amount of silica gel required, height and diameter of column

All I have is Adsorption capacity vs Relative humidity chart, air flow rate (8000m3/hr), inlet air humidity(100% at 5deg C) and outlet air humidity(0.01% @20deg C), silica gel properties from perry's handbook.

please do reply..i am really stuck.

Regards,

Erica

Hi ,

Consider the document attached to perform a mass balance and calculate the quantity of water to be removed per hour . I believe you can find good information in Perry's chemical handbook about adsorption and the rate of adsorption .

Hope this is helping you .
