Dear all

I am new engineer

I am during design overpressure protection of discharge diaphragm pump by install self pressure regulator and PSV return to suction line.  (Pressure 50 barg to 5.4 barg at temp 343 C)

However vendor inform me that they cannot design pressure regulator to control pressure from 50 barg to 5.4 barg.

Thus, I think I will design two pressure regulator in series to control pressure from 50 barg to 15 barg and from 15 barg to 5.4 barg.

Are there any one have experience for install two pressure regulator in series?

What do you think about my design?

Best regards,

Sapao

There are commercial products available that combine two regulators as you did, however with a 50 barg source it may be tough to find one that matches your need.  Maybe someone else here is familiar with a product that meets your need. If not, then you'll have to progress your design and construct it out of available equipment.

Did you calculate the valve cv for using one regulator? I assume the cv is too small. I would calculate the cv again for the two regulators and check with the vendor if the regulator can handle this.

What kind of service is that?

343 °C is not a usual temperature for diaphragm pump.

In such special service, the pump vendor should advice on pump protection.
