Hi

To estimate capital cost of compressor, its power is needed. But how to obtain compressor power?

I am simulating a plant using Aspen hysys. To obtain compressor power, do i need to input performance curve or just input inlet outlet pressures? is the power value obtained by the latter way acceptable for compressor capital cost estimation?

Thanks

adamsavine:

Are you a chemical engineering student or studying some other engineering discipline?

If so, then why haven't you been prepared to understand or even develop the method of calculating the power required by a gas compressor?

You say you are "simulating", but how can you qualify to do that if you haven't learned or been taught the basic essentials?

You need to take a course in thermodynamics or a similar unit operations course to learn the steps that are taken to increase pressure in a gas system before attempting to simulate it.  You can't simulate what you don't understand.   You have to learn how to walk before you can run.

hi,

To support your work.

Another reference is Perry's Chemical engineers' handbook.

Good luck.
