Hi all
I am going to design a flare system using flarenet. Is there any guide lines for PSV's scenario. I am planning to examine a blocked outlet scenario only using a pressure control valve.
Thank you all

sargon,

There are guidelines for overpressure scenario in order to PSV sizing in API 521. If you want to get a reply on your specific query please submit the relevant system details in the form of sketch.....

Sargon,

Which PSV scenario to be governing will be based on your unit operations. Hence after complete analysis of your operations , if you found that blocked outlet scenario is governing then you can use same in flarenet analysis. Thus PSV data will be precursor to flare system analysis.

Further based on operations knowledge, you need to define different scenarios in which discharge will be released to flare system.

e.g. cooling water failure in overall plant. In that scenario, there can be multiple PSVs discharging to flare system.

Thus You need to analyse flare system in totality for multiple scenarios by considering various criteria such as mach no., rho v2, noise level etc.

Above mentioned are general guidelines.  Specific query can be commented upon if details shared.

Hi Fallah
My system is very simple. It consists of a production separator, Teg dehydration unit with contactor column, and propane chilling unit (Dew point control unit). The capacity of the plant is 1.4 MMSCMD
Thank you very much

Sargon,

I recommend looking on API 521 for guidance. There is several scenarios that you might need to consider for your unit.
