I need to know more about diagnostic of working process equipment like gamma-scanning. Please share worth information concerning pros and cons - limits (residues, process, equipment, sensor), methods, results treatment and your personal experience (when, why, where). Do you use methods like gamma-scanning for corrosion under insulation control? Any links would be appreciated.

Hi ,

My experience on gama scanning was to evaluate the  damage on a Distillation column ( trays ) .

It's good to have a reference and compare the scans over the time .

You should check for specialized company (3rd party) on the web .

Gamma scanning can find liquid/vapour density differences.  Corrosion of the steel would be very hard to discern (you'd be looking for loss of metal).    Like breizh - I have only seen it used for column tray performance evaluation and determining liquid flows over weirs (to see if weirs were damaged) in separators.
