Hi,
I have a query I was wondering if anyone could help with.
Is there a way to slow the flow down on a gravity drop of pipework below 1m/s?
The system is one pot draining into another pot 10 metres below through an almost vertical pipe with 4 slight bends.
If I add a restrictor plate to the top of the pipe my thought is you will get partially filled flow below which it will still accelerate to a velocity greater than 1 m/s. Can I add 2-3 restrictor plates? Is there another way to do this without expensive pipework changes?
It's two phase non-conducting fluid and our standards restrict us to this velocity to mitigate against a static risk and we need to adhere to it as we can't guarantee the pot won't have a flammable atmosphere.
