Hello everybody.

I am currently making a suggestion about a new Nitrogene generation unit/system in our plant and for this I would like to understand the basics of design of this system, I mean, how to choose/calculate the capacity of compressors, vessels, pressure ... etc.

Could someone help please?

Thank you ^^

Hi ,

To me better to contact vendors , plenty !

It depends very much about the quality of N2  you need , the water content , oil free ,,,,, etc

Attached an example PSA for a project in Thailand .

my view

Breizh:

Sir, thank you for your reply!

In my case, I need to have a general view on what we need so that I can contact vendors.

I read in some manuals that we need to know the consumption of the equipment that use nitrogene daily, but in our case, we don't.

we only have furnaces that, in case of fire, we should put it up with nitrogene.

And that's make things a bit different !

Sounds like you need a fire extinguisher. Or snuffing steam.

Bobby is right.  If all you want to do is to extinguish a furnace fire, then you can apply steam or CO2 (from a big fire extinguisher) just as easily or easier than you can apply nitrogen.

Nitrogen can be generated and stored in different ways.  You don't even spend time asking what those different methods are and how you intend to store the gas (or cryogenic liquid?).  You have to spend time in learning about your different options and which ones can be applied safely and economically to your project.  It is obvious that you haven't invested that time and effort.

I can tell you from experience that both steam and CO2 are going to be a lot more inexpensive in capital and operating costs than compressed or liquid nitrogen.   How or where did you get the idea that nitrogen is the inert gas to use in order to extinguish your furnace?

Also, what kind of furnace are you writing about?   Your lack of being specific and identifying the type - and size - of the furnace leaves a lot of questions up in the air.  If you have a furnace that can't tolerate steam or CO2, you should state so, and for what reason.

That way, you will get a more accurate and rational response from our members.

Hi all, thank you for your answers.

We need Nitrogene in inerting some equipment when doing doing some operations.

Sarah,

The least expensive nitrogen generation system is membranes. However, if you are not too distant from a nitrogen supplier, you can bring in a tube trailer or liquid nitrogen when you need it. Or, if you have frequent needs, your supplier can provide you with a liquid storage tank and vaporizer. It seems that you don't need high purity nitrogen, so you should consider an inert gas generator. You feed fuel and air to a combustor, then cool the hot gas and condense water. You can find numerous suppliers for this equipment. Of course, if there is a nearby facility that has nitrogen, get it from them.

Hello

Two methods of generating N2 mostly in practice: (a) Non-Cryogenic Process  ( b )  Cryogenic process.

Depending upon your site feature, utility availability (Cost and reliability) and the desired capacity, you choose.

Please elaborate your requirements.

Bodhisatya.
