Dear all,

Shall we provide goose vent to the down stream of any safety relief valve if the tank is located outside the building. I could not find any details in API 2000 standard about which type of vent needs to be provided.

Can you plz help me in this doubt.

Thanks

Hi,

You did try using API 2000 to find the detail of vent downstream of the PSV on a tank, hence appears the tank is atmospheric or low pressure one.

If so, the PSV can be "end of line" type and directly send the vented gas/vapor to the atmosphere if that gas/vapor isn't flammable or toxic otherwise the PSV should be "in line" type and the PSV outlet should be piped away to a safe location.
