Hello All

 

I have seen two different approaches for sizing orifices/Venturi. While my current organization, sizes it based on BASE CONDITION, my previous employer used "FLOWING CONDITION" to determine Bore size.

 

Esteemed members requesting an insight, which of the above two methods is more frequently used and Pros and Cons of either sizing methodology.

Although I'm not an orifice sizing expert, but I'm curious, what do you mean by base condition and flowing condition? Isn't the flow element always "flowing" something?

Should be flowing condition , refer to manufacturer data sheet .

Yes, it should be flowing conditions.  Base conditions are utilized when converting the actual volumetric flow rate (ft^3/min or ACFM, m^3/h, etc.) to an equivalent flow rate under "standard" or "normal" conditions (SCFM, NCMH, etc.), or to convert the actual volumetric flow rate to a mass equivalent.
