I have a vessel vapor outlet where there are over 11 elbows. the vapor from the vessel is only used during startup. do you see any danger for the number of elbows on a vapor outlet line?

Sara:

Before considering if there is any "danger" in evacuating any vapor(s) from your vessel, do you have any problem in submitting a detailed sketch (preferably an isometric) to our members?  This is engineering basic data that is sorely needed before discussing any opinions on this query.  Your query is just excessively simple.  We don't know:

  • the composition of the vapor(s);
  • the flow rate of the vapor(s);
  • the size of the fittings (elbows) used;
  • the length of the piping and fittings employed;
  • the pressure in the vessel at startup;
  • the destination of the evacuated vapor (to atmosphere?) and the pressure at the outlet of the vapor(s).

Please respond with the basic data so our members can study it.
