Hello Everyone,

We have a DM water plant in our petrochemical complex to cater Demineralize water for boilers. The DM chains have  Activated carbon filter(ACF), Strong acid cation(SAC) resin bed, Strong base anion(SBA) resin bed and mixed resin bed ( strong acid cation resin+ strong base anion resin). Each chain's activated carbon filter( ACF) are designed for 142m3/hr water load and inlet raw water parameter of DM water plant as follows:

pH:7.5,Turbidity<1 NTU, Total suspended solid<1 mg/lit, Total dissolve solid:161 mg/lit, Electrical conductivity(@25Deg.C):250 micro-siemens/cm, Calcium as CaCo3:60mg/lit, Magnesium as CaCo3:33mg/lit,

Sodium as Na:13mg/lit, Potassium as K:5mg/lit,Chloride as Cl:9 mg/lit, Sulphate as SO4:16mg/lit, Iron as Fe:0.02mg/lit, Silica(Reactive) as SiO2: 35mg/lit, M-alkalinity as CaCo3: 88mg/lit, Copper is negligible, Organic matter as KMno4 @100Deg.C 11 mg/lit.

The water outlet parameter(as designed) at the outlet of mixed resin bed are as follows:

pH:6.5-7,Turbidity:0 NTU,Total dissolve solid<0.1mg/lit, Electrical conductivity(@25Deg.C)<0.2 micro-siemens/cm, Total hardness as CaCo3:Nil, Chloride as Cl: Nil, Iron as Fe<0.01mg/lit, Silica(Reactive) as SiO2<0.02mg/lit, Organic matter as KMno4 @100Deg.C :<5 mg/lit.

Purolite PFA400 and Purolite PPC 100h are being used in our DM water plant as SBA and  SAC resin.

I am not from design side, I am from process operation side. I would like to have in-depth design knowledge of the DM water plant equipment such as ACF rating, SAC & SBA design rating including equilibrium, adsorption kinetics vessel sizing, Mixed bed rating adsorption kinetics & equilibrium etc.

Please note the resin vendor does not provide any adsorption kinetics & equilibrium related data as those are their secret. Here I am not asking about kinetic, equilibrium data (Illegal data) of resin vendor.

I just want to know how to detail design complete DM water plant including calculation of resin amount require from available legal data. literature, design related reference and any details on Adsorption kinetics and affinity for different ions etc. Suggestion of any book on related matter also would be highly appreciable.

With thanks and regards,

Bitan729

Step 1: Download their design software.

http://lpt.lanxess.c...aplus-software/

Step 2: Attend their courses/seminars/exhibitions etc. and ask them all the questions you want.

Step 3: Be hungry and read widely.

Always remember, Google and Youtube is your best learning buddy.
