Hi,

If there is sudden pressure released from Hydrogenation  20 kg/sq cm to catch pot(Dump pot) , how to calculate maximum pressure dump tank / catch pot can get , in both cases 01) in choked flow 02) in case dump tank is open to atmosphere, just to check if dump tank can withstand that pressure?

No need to calculate that.  20 kg/sq mtr is barely above atmospheric pressure.  In my head, 20 kg/sq mtr = 0.002 Kg(f)/cm2.

Or, do you have a units problem?

Once again, Latexman is right on target.  I've never heard of - or seen - any pressure unit of Kg/m2.  Besides, you fail to tell us if that pressure unit is absolute or gauge.

How do you arrive at your two options?   Are you aware of how sonic (choked) flow is obtained?  Are you also aware that you have to calculate all the pressure drops through the system --- such as outlets, inlets, piping, elbows, tees, etc., etc. ??

I believe you have to furnish complete and accurate Basic Data so your query can be answered accurately.

sorry for inconvenience , Unit is Kg/cm2  not kg/m2.

I am not aware how sonic flow is obtained.

Yes i am aware of o calculate all the pressure drops through the system --- such as outlets, inlets, piping, elbows, tees.
