Hello,

I setup my heat exchanger on hysys as a condenser for a the overhead products of a distillation column, once I reached convergence, I got an  AEL exchanger with 160 tubes, and 60.32m2 of total area then I realized that the sizing won't change even if I modify any of the process variables (flow, temperature, pressure, etc.). Which is very odd, So I simulate another exchanger this time for the reboiler (a whole new set of configurations) and ended up with the same sizing for the condenser. Why do this happen?

Also, when I switch to rigorous mode with the EDR tool I choose auto-sizing, the EDR found a solution and when I choose to "accept design" and switch to main flow tab the exchanger partially loses the input data and is no longer ok, Why do this happen?

What should I do?

Thanks in advance,

First, do the exchanger design as an ancillary operation, not within the main flow. Then see what happens.

Thanks for your time Bobby,

I haven't heard of this ancillary operation can you tell me more about it?

Export the column overhead vapor and use as feed to exchanger.
