Plant data and relevant process simulation results always have a difference in values (temperature, pressure, concentration).

The smaller this difference (error - %), the more accurate the model.

But what error values (average and maximum) are allowable in practice? 1%, 5%, 10%?

In what documentation is a allowable error indicated?

There is no general answer to your question. If you are more specific, you may get some advice. Often errors are due to the wrong model.

hi,

Make you sure fields data are properly monitored with calibrated sensors .

good luck

in other words...you will have errors both in simulations and in field data...often in different directions :-)

the error is highly dependant by the kind of characterization (eg distillation curves vs chemical compositions) of the feedstocks and the kind of process (eg a CDU/VDU vs a mature licensed process).

moreover, the magnitude of possible errors depends by the observed parameters (eg an operating temperature vs a cetane number).

nowadays the design margins, that should allow to compensate the uncertainties, are generally limited to 10% and only foreseen for the single items, without the previously adopted capacity margins on units.

good luck!
