Dear All,

I came across the volumetric efficiency of the reciprocating compressor which is a function of the compression ratio and the cp/cv value of the gas (the gas molecular weight) as well as the suction temperature and pressure. For example, a lower suction Temperature reduces gas volume and hence cylinder volumetric capacity and efficiency tends to increase.. please correct me if I am wrong.

I would like to understand if this efficiency affects the discharge temperature and power since mainly compressor vendors tend to follow the adiabatic path in estimating the power of the machine and its discharge temperature.

I have an existing compressor with vendor inputs available on suction and discharge pressure/temperature.. If I input the vendor parameters in HYSYS simulation, I get a message stating'' efficiency higher than 100%'', is this  because of the different in the equation of state used by vendor than the simulation.

Thank you,

Regards,

You must also include the cylinder dimensional data. And clearance, and more. You might want a refresher course about such compressors.
And, too, you can find online calculators if you search.

This might help.
