At what pressure we should design finger type valve unloader i.e at suction pressure or at discharge pressure?
If we design it at suction pressure then if our compressor is shut off suddenly at higher pressure in cylinder then how to unload it?

Please help

Hope this is for reciprocating compressor and service like nitrogen compressor or instrument air compressor here.

This valve is called blowoff valve or unloader valve .when compressor stops this valve opens and release the pressure and finally suction and discharge pressure is same when compressor unloads

Thanks for your reply

Yes I am talking about reciprocating compressor valve unloaders.

Whether we have to design this finger type unloaders at suction or discharge for capacity control?

Because at suction pressure also it will actuate as cylinders pressure drop to suction pressure during its suction stroke
