Hi,
Could anyone assist me with the following question. I have been struggling with it for to long and am unsure if I am on the right track.
So for the first part I got the equation and balanced it: C6H12O6 + O2 + NH3 => C5H7NO2 + CO2 + 4H20
For the respiratory quotient (RQ) then I got 1 as the formula for RQ is moles of CO2 produced/moles of oxygen consumed.
But for calculating the electron balance is where I am getting stuck and think I have gone wrong. Any example of calculating oxygen demand I have seen online they use cell growth equation (CwHxOyNz + aO2 + bHgOhNi ® cCHaObNd + dCO2 + eH2O) but they never give the full formula of the cells in the example questions online but they did in the question above (C5H7NO2).
If anyone could assist me or point me in the right direction it would be appreciated.
