hi to all,

Is any thumb rule for reciprocating pump suction pipe length?

While calculating NPSH, acceleration head goes much and get negative NPSH value.

How will dampener help to reduce acceleration head?

Higher suction pipe length hence higher head drop due to the acceleration...

The dampener in suction side will keep the velocity of the fluid as constant as possible hence its pressure. then it will reduce the head drop due to the acceleration...
