Hello, I am operating a distillation column under vacuum condition around 1 to 2 mmhg gauge. Our distillation column has top mounted condenser. There is no pipeline between column top and condenser inlet. They are in direct contact. It has internal auto reflux system. I want to know the internal mechanism of overhead top mounted condenser. Please, share about it if anyone has knowledge about its mechanical construction. Or please provide any source where I can find about it.

If you are seeking drawings of the exchanger, your company should have these in records storage. If not, you can contact the fabricator for copies of their drawings.

HI,

It's a total condenser above the column where the liquid is collected in a circular  pan attached to the wall . From this collecting pan the distillate is withdrawn (weir)  . The bottom part of the pan is connected to a liquid distributor thus   refluxed .

Note : you may have a chance to check the pan  during a turn around .

The devil is in the details .

Good luck

Breizh

I am curious. Why do you not have the equipment drawings or specs?
