Hello everyone,

I would like to ask you if there is any rule of thumb of how many bends can be in a pipe length? For example, 8% of the pipe length is the number of bends.This 8% is a random value.

No, there is no rule of thumb that can be applied for number of bends for a given pipe length.

Compare the following;

Pipe run in pipe rack - long straight runs, no bends.

Piping around pumps - lots of bends in a short length of pipes.

 

You are best to visualise the piping route and make an estimate.

In your calculation this would be an assumption and when you come back to revise the calculation when the piping route is known you can validate your assumption.
