A concern about unit operation chemical engineering design, In-vessel aerobic composting process that I intend to simulate and use the methodology required to complete the mass and energy transfer, reaction rate, and the key parameters controlled.

There should be rate limiting step taken into consideration which I believe is the biodegradation of compost by aerobic organisms at mesophilic and thermophilic stages.

Also, the given is a feed containing, Proteins, Lipids, Carbohydrates, Starch, Ash, Phenolic content, Flavanoids, Glucoamylase, Ethanoic Acid, Clostridum Butyricum. with the compositions and feed flow rates.

However, I believe the aerobic composting process requires the addition of a bulking material to control the moisture content, and the optimum C:N ratio, for the process to be carried out.

Including all the other important parameters to control, support is needed to decide an approach for the chemical design carrying the correct methodology to complete the mass and energy balances.
