Dear Members,

I'm working on a task of pipeline design for Natural Gas containing 26 mole% CO2 and moisture. I have done line sizing using Aspen Hysys but unable to figure out the piping material as its my 1st experience with this kind of tasks.

I will be very thankful if some one guide me or recommend some literature that could help in selection of proper material.

Mechanical engineers must select the right pipeline material. If ia a complicated fluid, corrosion engineer must be consult

CS is the material used for the construction of  NG pipelines. Use of grade depends on design pressure.

Provide more details like

(1) H2S content

(2) Design pressure

(3) Design temperature

Process Engineers (as I assume you are too) are not fully qualified to provide proper recommendation for material selection (I know I can't).

 

Your task however is to provide the proper information to your material specialist, to cover all the possible operating (and even upset) scenarios.

There are many regions in the world where one does not distinguish between a process engineer and a materials/corrosion engineer. High specialization in not common.
