Dears,

'm writing to ask about the suitable metallurgy of steam condensate system.

I've done a lot of searches and most of the articles give the two options of carbon steel & stainless steel (with the difference in the corrosion mitigation measures).  Also, they inform that the corrosion is predominant by oxygen & carbon dioxide presence (CO2 can form via the decomposition of traces carbonates & bicarbonate).

Until now, it is not clear to me how to judge which option and/or combination to choose.

To give little brief about our system:

Boiler pressure & temperature: 42 barg & 400 deg. C

Water make-up: demineralized potable water

Recovered condensate: ~95% with only de-oiling (no mixed bed polishing)

Steam is serving turbine drivers & heat exchangers

Appreciate sharing any experience and/or articles which can help...

Regards,

Talk to a reputable, local boiler feedwater treatment company familiar with your water, or at least, the water in the local area..

Hi,

Consider this extract from Spirax Sarco Design of fluid systems, Stainless steel is required .

Demin water is "corrosive ", pay attention to the chemical treatment.

Consider reviewing the information in the link underneath. As suggested get in touch with chemical treatment boiler water supplier.

Good luck
