hi all, can anyone recommend me book in which i can find detailed description of lime system ( i am intrested in water tretment application) like lime silos, slurry tanks, lime saturators, mass balance etc

Hi,

I'm not aware of book dealing with this application, try your favorite engine.

BTW we have no idea about the quantity to treat, the impurities.

To start with let you google: lime slaker 

Regarding mass balance, it will depend on the chemicals you want to remove, in other words you will need an excess of lime to get your results. Most of the time the excess is simulated in a lab (lab scale).

Residence time is key in this process.

Regular cleaning of the equipment is required, strategy to manage the reactor(s) depends on process (continuous, batch).

 

Personally, I hate this material because it will generate mess all around the place.

You may have other options like caustic soda solution.
