Gracias

From Google Translate:

Hello everyone, I'm verifying the diameters of a vent sub-manifold. I'm not considering simultaneous relief, only the relief from each PSV valve.

I have a valve that will relieve a flow rate of 22,500 kg/h of gas in the event of a blockage. The PSV is a 4"x6" M orifice valve. Its discharge is directed to an 8" line and subsequently to a 12" vent sub-manifold, which finally connects to the plant's 30" vent manifold for entry into the KOD. The valve under analysis has a rated flow rate of 81,500 kg/h.

According to the API RP 520 standard, I must verify the diameters for the valve's rated flow rate. My verification criteria are: Ma < 0.7 and rho*v2 < 150,000 for the sub-manifold, and Ma < 0.5 and rho*v2 < 100,000 for the main manifold. When I load the PSV into Aspen Flare Analyzer V14, I enter the mass flow and rated flow of 81,500 kg/h for both, selecting the "tailpipe yes" option for the pipe. Under these conditions, the following are verified: criteria.

If I input a mass flow of 22,500 kg/h and a rated flow of 81,500 kg/h, it doesn't work. I get a higher velocity value, and therefore the resulting rho*v2 is higher.

I'm trying to understand how the software performs the calculation, as it doesn't make sense that it gives me a higher velocity with a lower flow rate.

Could someone guide me a little on how the software performs the calculation?

Thanks
